Contemplative Fire has large groups that brings the community together, to experience stillness and learning with like minded people. Our large groups meet on a monthly basis with our Gathering, periodically with Pilgrimage to Now/here and offerings sprinkled throughout the year with Wisdom on the Way and Living the Mystery.
Contemplative Fire Gatherings are our monthly worship which includes an informal communion. They are an experiential encounter with scripture and the Jesus story. Expect stillness, spaciousness, and story telling. Often, we use visual images, body prayer, and small group discussion.
Stillness begins at 4:00 pm
Theme begins at 4:15 pm
Usually finish between 5:30 – 6:00 pm
Sometimes we linger over a potluck supper.
Come and see – all are welcome!
The Gatherings take place on the last Sunday of the month at St. Leonard’s Church, 25 Wanless Avenue, Toronto.
Living the Mystery large group is a short term learning journey opportunity. It takes place throughout the year for a number of weeks at a time. Past opportunities included studying Parker Palmer’s Hidden Wholeness book and Good & Beautiful God Series by James Smith.
A pilgrimage is often as spiritual journey. We believe that a great distance is not required to go onto a pilgrimage and we offer the opportunity for our members to pilgrimage together in a local setting, often contemplating on a spiritual passage or intent.
Occasionally our community offers specific teaching days, as we seek to gather and share wisdom on the way. We draw on teachers from within our own community or from without to help us grow in being a contemplative in today’s world. In the past we’ve offered days studying how to live within our Rhythm of Life, gone deeper into contemplative prayer, what it means to live contemplatively and the history of contemplative Christianity.
